Carl O. Schuster là một sĩ quan Hải quân đã nghỉ hưu sau 25 năm công tác, với những năm cuối cùng phục vụ trong ngành tính báo quân sự. Hiện sống ở Honolulu, Schuster tham gia giảng dạy chương trình Ngoại giao và Khoa học Quân sự tại Hawaii Pacific University.

Ngày 11/01/1974, các sĩ quan Nam Việt Nam nhận được báo cáo về những động thái của Trung Quốc trên hai hòn đảo của Nam Việt Nam thuộc quần đảo Hoàng Sa. Hai ngày sau, Bộ tư lệnh Hải quân Sài Gòn phái hai tàu khu trục Lý Thường Kiệt HQ-16 và Trần Khánh Dư HQ-4 tới thám sát.

Vụ tập kích của an ninh Việt Nam vào xã Đồng Tâm, ngoại thành Hà Nội, khiến một cụ già 84 tuổi và 3 sĩ quan công an thiệt mạng, gây chấn động các mạng xã hội. Trong lúc chính quyền bưng bít thông tin, nhiều người tiếp tục tìm hiểu lý do dẫn đến cuộc can thiệp thảm khốc này. Kênh YouTube “Out of Spec Reviews” có hơn 100 ngàn người theo dõi hôm 10/1/2023 đăng tải đoạn video với tiêu đề “Lần Đầu Tôi Lái Xe VinFast VF8! Và tôi thực sự ước mình đã không…”

Đoạn video dài 45 phút về trải nghiệm của ông Kyle Conner, một YouTuber và car reviewer (người trải nghiệm và đánh giá xe hơi) người Mỹ về chiếc xe của hãng VinFast thu hút gần 40.000 lượt xem sau một ngày đăng tải.

Dù cũng đọc được lõm bõm một hai ngoại ngữ, tôi rất ít khi rớ tới một tờ báo hay một cuốn sách viết bằng tiếng Anh hay tiếng Pháp. Lý do, chả phải là vì tôi có máu bài ngoại hoặc dị ứng với văn hoá thực dân (hay đế quốc) gì ráo trọi mà chỉ tôi chỉ thạo tiếng mẹ đẻ hơn nên rất ngại “đụng” đến tiếng nước ngoài.

Nhiều người đi du lịch nước ngoài về khen dịch vụ, khách sạn, trung tâm thương mại… ở Việt Nam còn xịn hơn, đẹp hơn, tốt hơn nước ngoài. 

Chuỗi bệnh viện, trường học, nhà ở, siêu thị của một tập đoàn nọ đẳng cấp, chất lượng không thua kém Âu Mỹ. 

Có những người quen sau nhiều năm sống tại nước ngoài, trở về Việt Nam, kể lại “Việt Nam giờ giàu lắm, phát triển lắm rồi, khối thứ hơn châu Âu, đừng từ nước ngoài (không biết gì) nghĩ nước mình còn lạc hậu, giờ không còn nghèo đói thiếu ăn đâu”.

Ngày 18 Tháng Mười Hai, nhằm ngày 25 Tháng Mười Một Nhâm Dần là lễ lớn kỷ niệm 103 năm Đức Thầy Huỳnh Phú Số Đản sanh, tín đồ Phật giáo Hòa Hào coi đây là ngày lễ hết sức quan trọng, thế nhưng ở tư gia của các trị sự viên Phật giáo Hòa Hảo Thuần Túy ở An Giang và Đồng Tháp đã bị chính quyền địa phương ngăn chận hành lễ mà không có lý do chính đáng.

Năm 2022, Tự do tôn giáo Việt Nam bị đánh giá là tồi tệ hơn khi hàng loạt các tôn giáo, cơ sở sinh hoạt tôn giáo độc lập bị Chính quyền Hà Nội dùng mọi phương cách, từ vận động, ngăn chặn, tấn công, cho tới bỏ tù… hòng xoá bỏ bất kỳ nhóm tôn giáo nào không đi theo khuôn khổ của Nhà nước.

Vụ trái phiếu SCB vẫn đang gây ra phẫn uất trong người dân ở Việt Nam. Nếu tôi nói ‘trái phiếu SCB’ mà bạn bảo nghe có gì đó sai sai thì tôi xin khẳng định: Đúng là tôi nói về trái phiếu SCB. 

Không phải mình tôi nói đâu. Thử hỏi những người đã mua trái phiếu ở SCB, có ai gọi ‘trái phiếu An Đông’ không? Có ai đến công ty An Đông đòi tiền không? Và họ cũng không lầm đâu. 

Đơn giản là vì vào cái ngày họ đi ‘mua trái phiếu’, họ không đi đến công ty An Đông, mà họ cũng không biết có Công ty đầu tư An Đông gì đó. Họ cũng không tìm đến Công ty Chứng khoán Tân Việt, bởi nhiều người trong số họ có biết chứng khoán, trái phiếu là gì đâu?

Cũng như bao nhiêu đồng loại (và sinh vật) khác, với thời gian, mỗi lúc tôi một thêm già nua và cằn cỗi. Lưng còng, tóc bạc, da mồi, mắt mờ, tai điếc, răng long … thì đã đành rồi; não bộ, trí óc, trí tuệ, trí́ tưởng, trí nhớ … cũng mỗi ngày một thêm đù đờ/lờ quờ và mù mờ thì (hơi) khó đành hơn – chút xíu!

Hàng năm, Bộ Y tế tổ chức hai đợt uống vitamin A vào đầu tháng 6 và đầu tháng 12 cho các trẻ dưới 6 tháng tuổi không được bú mẹ và trẻ dưới 5 tuổi có nguy cơ thiếu vitamin này. [1] Trẻ được uống vitamin A tại các trạm y tế phường, xã. Một số trường học cũng phối hợp y tế địa phương để tổ chức cho trẻ uống.

Không có dòng tin nào về diễn biến lớn đang xảy ra tại Trung Quốc trên các trang báo Việt Nam. Trong khi khắp mạng xã hội người Việt đều có những hình ảnh và tin tức liên quan sự tức giận của dân chúng, bùng nổ tại nhiều thành phố tại Trung Quốc vào cuối Tháng Mười Một 2022 thì báo chí dòng chính Việt Nam lại đẩy mạnh những câu chuyện về việc mùa Đông đang đến ở châu Âu với nỗi khốn khổ vì thiếu khí đốt Nga hoặc bạo loạn ở Bỉ sau trận thua tại World Cup.

Có thể thấy giới tuyên truyền viên và ban Tuyên giáo Việt Nam cũng hết sức bối rối trước bối cảnh này, mặc dù sự kiện đã dội đến Việt Nam gần một tuần. Lệnh trên đưa xuống là ngăn chặn các báo không được đưa tin tức nóng bỏng hiện có ở Trung Quốc, trong khi giới tuyên truyền viên thì vẫn chưa được chỉ đạo những ngôn ngữ hợp lý nào để phản bác lại những người đưa tin. Cho đến khi giới sinh viên và người dân Trung Quốc ở trên khắp thế giới bắt đầu hưởng ứng biểu tình thì người ta mới thấy xuất hiện một giọng điệu phê bình cũ mòn, rằng đó chỉ là những thành phần bất mãn chế độ nhân cơ hội, chứ còn thật ra đa số người dân Trung Quốc đều ủng hộ Tập Cận Bình.

Tại Trung Quốc, sự bất lực trong việc ngăn chặn tin tức của Bắc Kinh đã được tờ The Guardian phanh phui. Các tài khoản bot của Trung Quốc Trung Quốc – các chương trình giả lập con người để phục vụ việc đưa tin tự động trên các mạng xã hội- đang được sử dụng tối đa để làm tràn ngập các bề mặt truyền thông bằng quảng cáo dịch vụ khiêu dâm và cờ bạc, khi người dùng tìm kiếm tin về một thành phố lớn trong Trung Quốc, chẳng hạn Thượng Hải hoặc Bắc Kinh, hoặc sử dụng chữ viết Trung Quốc, với từ khóa liên quan. Các bài đăng đầy tính khuyến khích hưởng thụ được thiết kế để che khuất tin tức về các cuộc biểu tình ở Trung Quốc, trong một nỗ lực rõ ràng do nhà nước chỉ đạo nhằm ngăn chặn các tin tức hay video ghi lại các cuộc biểu tình.

Dĩ nhiên Hà Nội cũng không muốn lan truyền những hình ảnh mang tính đoàn kết và phẫn nộ của người dân Trung Quốc, với bối cảnh cũng rất quen thuộc ở Việt Nam vào một năm trước. Món nợ của chính quyền Bắc Kinh bất lực không thể đối phó được với giải pháp chống dịch, chỉ có cách duy nhất là giam nhốt người dân, dường như là một mô tả gián tiếp về sai lầm đang được chia đôi của hai nước liền kề nhau.

Nếu Việt Nam có một nền kinh tế dẻo dai và đủ mạnh, có lẽ giờ phút này nhiều thành phố ở Việt Nam vẫn đang tiếp tục trong tình cảnh phong tỏa tương tự. Thành phố lớn nhất và giàu có nhất của miền Nam đã được đưa vào để thí nghiệm cho một cuộc xiết chặt y tế, bao gồm cả an ninh và lương thực đã dẫn đến một sự mệt mỏi tận Trung ương: bởi Sài Gòn là thành phố duy nhất có khả năng đóng góp đến 82% ngân sách.

Không phải là người Việt Nam đã lãng quên cơn ác mộng đại dịch COVID-19, chỉ là thói quen không nói ra đã trở thành một tập quán xã hội để giữ an toàn cho bản thân mình. Câu chuyện hỏa hoạn trong vùng phong tỏa tại Urumqi (Tân Cương) giết chết ít nhất 10 người trong một tòa nhà chung cư – đã nhắc cho không biết người Việt nhớ lại những ngày tháng khắc nghiệt mà họ đã từng trải qua: Chắc chắn con số xác thực về những người chết bởi COVID-19 ở Việt Nam không phải chỉ là hơn 43 ngàn, ít nhất đối với nhiều bệnh nhân ngày thường khác, cũng đã chết lặng lẽ trong phong tỏa. Cách Trung Quốc đối xử một cách tàn nhẫn với người dân, tạo ra một sự liên tưởng, cho thấy chính sách “zero Covid” là một mệnh lệnh thép để duy trì chế độ chứ không kể đến sự tồn vong của thường dân.

Thế khó của Ban Tuyên giáo và báo chí Việt Nam lúc này là tránh nói về chuyện phản ứng của hàng trăm ngàn người dân Trung Quốc, bởi không muốn mô tả về sức mạnh của người dân đang đòi hỏi thay đổi chính quyền và cả việc nhắc lại một sai lầm còn nóng hổi, đã diễn ra bằng xương máu.

Tiến sĩ Hà Sĩ Phu, nhà phân tích sự bế tắc của chủ nghĩa cộng sản bằng luận thuyết khoa học của mình, đã từng có một nhận định hết sức thú vị “Mọi sự ớn lạnh của Trung Quốc đều dẫn đến run rẩy ở Việt Nam”. Trong khi những thanh niên và người dân Trung Quốc đang giơ tờ giấy trắng để mô tả về một xã hội bị thanh trừng sạch sẽ theo ý đảng cộng sản thì báo chí Việt Nam cũng gián tiếp đưa những tờ giấy trắng trên trang báo của mình, trơ trẽn nói rằng thế giới này không có gì đáng lưu tâm ngoài lao động xây dựng xã hội chủ nghĩa và thụ hưởng.

Bất chấp sự tảng lờ cố ý của truyền thông nhà nước, những hình ảnh và tin tức về sự bất mãn của người dân Trung Quốc đang được người dân Việt Nam đưa lại, xuất hiện ngày càng nhiều trên Twitter, Telegram, Facebook hay YouTube. Nó mở ra cho những ai chứng kiến một suy nghĩ khác về sự hùng mạnh bất toại của chế độ độc tài rằng: Nếu một chính quyền bất lương với nhân dân thì nó sẽ bị gọi tên để loại bỏ. Chắc chắn không có ngoại lệ nào trên hành tinh này, kể cả việc lý tưởng hóa về một loại chủ nghĩa được đặt lên người dân, để tuyên truyền rằng giai cấp cầm quyền là tuyệt đối chính nghĩa hay vinh quang mãi mãi.

Do sự xuất hiện của Việt Minh, đúng hơn, Đảng Cộng Sản Việt Nam, do đảng này cướp chính quyền ngày 19/8/1945, do sự phức tạp của thời thế và sự nóng nảy muốn giành độc lập nhất thời của một số người Việt, lịch sử Việt Nam từ năm 1945 đã không những không biến chuyển như mọi người  mong muốn mà còn đầy rẫy những ngộ nhận, từ đó những oan khuất cần phải được giải toả và làm sáng tỏ.  Đây là một việc làm vô cùng khó khăn mà một vài cá nhân khó có thể làm nổi.  Tuy nhiên, tuy gọi là khó nhưng những người quan tâm và hiểu biết ít nhiều vẫn phải làm để sau này sẽ có người tiếp tục và điều chỉnh.  Vì là một khoa học, sử học luôn luôn tiến bộ.  Những gì gọi là đúng ngày hôm nay có thể sẽ cần phải được ít ra là điều chỉnh và bổ khuyết ngày mai, để phơi bầy sự thực lịch sử, không có gì gọi là chân lý vĩnh cửu trong môn học này.  Người học sử không thể chủ quan nhất định cho rằng điều mình nói, viết ra hay được học mãi mãi là đúng, là chân lý bất di bất dịch.
